-La batalla de Covadonga tuvo lugar en 722 en Covadonga (España), un paraje próximo a Cangas de Onís (Asturias), entre el ejército de Don Pelayo y tropas de Al-Ándalus, que resultaron derrotadas. Esta acción bélica se considera como el arranque de la Reconquista. En su honor se levantó la Basílica de Covadonga que es la que aparece en la imagen y el Santuario de la Virgen con el mismo nombre.
-The Battle of Covadonga in 722 occurred in Covadonga (Spain) site near Cangas de Onis (Asturias), between the army of Don Pelayo and troops of Al-Andalus, they were defeated. This military action is considered as the start of the Reconquista. In his honor the Basilica de Covadonga which is shown in the image and the Sanctuary of the Virgin with the same name rose.
