Cumberland Island National Seashore isn’t the most loved place for landscape photographers… like the rainforests of the northwest, it can seem chaotic at first glance. Much of the island is wilderness, with miles of untouched beaches, dunes, and a large maritime forest. I spent the weekend here looking for solitude, and aside from the vicious mosquitos, unforgiving humidity and howls outside my tent, I found it. It was difficult to find a composition that brought coherence to an otherwise chaotic environment, but I stumbled upon this scene in a remote area on the island when hiking after sunrise.
