When in Lofoten..you can smell ancient history. Thousands of thousands of year back. No one knows exactly when cod fishing started, maybe Njord from Norse mythology started it? He was God for the oceans, and maybe one day he stood at the same place as I did yesterday..looking at those crazy mountains, this strange landscape that later became such an important source for norwegian folklore, for story tellings about elves, trolls, about Thor and Odin and even Njord himself. Someone say that the history of Norway starts here..and maybe it did.
