More !!! by DianiRalph

Although not rare, Brown Breasted Barbets are very shy birds that are quite difficult to photograph.
I was lucky enough to spot one flying into a hole in a tree trunk and decided to come back with my BIG lens and a tripod to see what I would get (if anything)
Initially I thought that the whole exercise was in vain, and after a couple of hours waiting was just starting to pack up when the parents flew in and started feeding their baby !!!
When I came back a few days later in the hopes of more photos or maybe even the chick starting to leave the nest, there was no more activity at all. I only hope that they all flew off happily and maybe come back to nest again.

DILEMMA by DianiRalph

I titled this photo DILEMMA due to the conflict between the awesome beauty of these magnificent creatures, and the fact that misguided superstitions are wiping them out!!
How is it that we humans are able to love something to death???
This photo was taken on a dark evening in the Nakuru National Park in Kenya. Many of you will recognise this as a part of a series and need not read further.
We had waited for a long time with this group (13 in total) when the sun suddenly burst out from a very dark and heavy sky for about 2 minutes during which I think that I took at least 50 shots ๐Ÿ™‚
Tragically this group were soon thereafter decimated by being poached, and then many were relocated to other areas in Kenya for their safety.
Of the several times that I have been back to try and get more shots, we have only ever seen one or two hiding in the bushes ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Memories of Summer by DianiRalph

This photo was taken on Dortmund-Ems Kanal on the outskirts of Waltrop which lies between Dortmund and Dusseldorf. I was staying with my in-laws who were trying to claim that there wasn’t a possibility to take nice landscape photos in the area. Obviously the challenge was ON !!!
Had loads of fun running up and down the canal banks to get this shot and really enjoyed the look on their faces ๐Ÿ™‚
This is a stitch of 8 vertical HDR shots.

A Dark Morning by DianiRalph

A dramatic early morning on Chale Island. I was actually after a mellow sunrise with no clouds and a yellow sun coming up over a calm turquoise sea, with gently waving palms on white sand !!! Oh well, I guess that we can’t control the weather. What I have noticed is that the pre-dawn lights are often much more dramatic and colourful than the light AFTER the sun is up !!!
