Falling Star by StergosSkulukas

Lucky enough to capture a falling star in one of my last shots of the galaxy this year. The byzantine monastery in the image is Saint Nicholas Fountoukli and is build in the 14th century. Enjoy with me!

This is a single raw file like the previous i post. Moon in the 1st quarter antd the milkyway side by side. It’s not easy to capture them together because the moonlit is very bright and also the weather conditions must be from your side. Thanks for watching !!!

Guardian of the Universe by StergosSkulukas

Another one from the same spot, this time with my Sony A6000 and the Samyang 8mm fisheye. The foreground is light painting. I believe that is the darkest place in Rhodes. Hope you like it!

La Torre del Saraceno by StergosSkulukas

My daughter know my passion about the dark skies and ask to read me a legend of the greek mithology. The legend explains how the Milky Way was created by Heracles when he was a baby. His father, Zeus, was fond of his son, who was born of the mortal woman Alcmene. He decided to let the infant Heracles suckle on his divine wife Hera’s milk when she was asleep, an act which would endow the baby with godlike qualities. When Hera woke up and realized that she was breastfeeding an unknown infant, she pushed him away and the spurting milk became the Milky Way.
