Is this the best known place in Scotland? Probably… But one more reason for me to catch this very unique place in a rather attractive way. Early in the morning, when just a handful people strolled through the area and magic light was in the air, I was blown away from the natural beauty. No wonder, that everyone wants to visit this magical wonderland.

Hard work mostly gets rewarded. What I´m talking about is climbing on a mountain with heavy gear. What was a great experience with my brother! Waiting the whole night until dawn starts and hoping for some nice conditions. The view was great here. The hardest part here was to find a compelling foreground. A touch of warm sidelight from the rising sun that honors the Sonnenspitze (sun peak) on the left. Germanys highest mountain Zugspitze sits enthroned in the background and complements the frame.

The world consists of a lot of injustice, violence and sorrow. Fantasy often takes place only in movies, books and photographs… BUT imagination also takes place outdoors. Where the elemental forces meet. It is a living fantasy that never fades, once again in your head. For me, this valley in the French Alps embodies the virgin imagination. Pure, innocent and yet untamed and mysterious. A valley like a dream. But the reality may be so fantastically.

While driving through deep Alpine valleys, a warm haze lies over the mountains. Up above the Valley of Fire, clouds throw up skywards like tongues of fire, while already the night has arrived in the dark mountain forest.
