We ended up in the right place at the right time to see Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park flooded. What had been gnarly, rough, and brown salt polygons have been broken down by the rain and are reforming as more delicate white salt polygons. Here, a thin layer of water and the blue tones of twilight almost make the salt look like ice.
