Light Dance by cwexplorationphotography

My amazing fiance got me a brand new CF Induro for Christmas so I just had to try it out! Lucky enough for me I was greeted with some of the best light I’ve ever seen in the Central Cascades. It was insane! This is a 6 photo horizontally stitched pano.

Smoldering Embers by cwexplorationphotography

I haven’t posted an image of St. Helen’s in a long time and I’ve been holding onto this one for a bit. The processing on this one was tough because the wind was blowing so hard. I had to hand blend 7 images for depth of focus and sharpness throughout the frame. This was taken at twilight as the supermoon rose up over the left shoulder of St. Helen’s the summer of 2014. I think that this is one of my new personal favorites. Hope you will enjoy it as well!

Mystique by cwexplorationphotography

It’s funny how things come full circle. I was up hiking in the Snoqualmie Pass area and I caught a glimpse of an old friend; McClellan Butte. I climbed that mountain about 6 years ago and to see it from this angle really gave me a whole new respect for it. I’m normally not a fan of high-key images but I felt challenged to snag something from this vantage point. To be honest I didn’t want to leave. I stayed there for about 4 hours until just after sunset before making my way home. I’ve got a handful more images from this shoot that I’ll be posting over the next few weeks. Anywho hope that you’ll enjoy this one as much as I do!

Rise and Shine by cwexplorationphotography

I originally had this one edited in color but the color palette just wasn’t doing the image any justice so I decided to switch it up to more of a monochrome look. This isn’t a traditional monochrome image as there are several different shades and hues going on in this one. I tried to get as much DR out of the look as possible. It was taken on the overlook on HWY 101 that looks out over Heceta Head Lighthouse in Oregon. This was taken just after sunrise. Hope you enjoy it!

Tidal Transformations by cwexplorationphotography

Here’s something a bit different from Second Beach. These formations in the sand drew me to this composition. The tide does some amazing things to the coastal beaches up and down the Washington coast and for once I was actually around with a camera to capture it.

An Interview with a Panther by cwexplorationphotography

So Lower Panther Creek Falls has been shot A LOT and it’s pretty much always shot from the same vantage point on the opposite side of Panther Creek. I decided to go for something different; partly because that water was damn cold and I had a 4 hour drive ahead of me and partly because I wanted to attempt something new. I climbed up and over several logs to find this little area buried between two massive pieces of timber right below the falls. This was really my only clean shot as the spray was crazy intense. I don’t know if this comp works or not, but it was something a bit out of the box for the area. Any who hope you enjoy this one!

The Proposal by cwexplorationphotography

This image comes from the single happiest moment I’ve had in my life to date; I asked the girl of my dreams to be my wife and she said yes! Second Beach has always been one of my favorite beaches on the Washington coast, but now it’s one that I will always remember and hold close to my heart for as long as I live and things don’t get much better than that!

Nothing too crazy here but I definitely love this lake and this was a pretty nice sunset after some intense thunderstorms; one of the best I’ve seen at this location.

Path to Solitude by cwexplorationphotography

Here’s a moody long exposure shot taken over at Second Beach during low tide. I’m pretty stoked to be heading back to this area this coming weekend.
