I don’t shot in portrait often, but I should do it much more. I still prefer a landscape format for my photography, but I’ve found really useful taking photos in portrait. It’s an effective exercise to improve and develop the composition.

After the 8 minutes exposure madness, I’ve tried another composition to get a different shot of the sunset in Boscastle. I’m not a big fun of short exposures, but the sunset was really amazing and deserved to be captured in every way possible.

A couple of weeks ago I’ve experiented one of the best sunset of the year! An incredible warm, sharp light in one of the most beutiful coastline of north Cornwall. This was a really difficult light to manage, this is a single shot, long exposure (about 90 seconds) with slot-in filters.

An amazing sunset was waiting for us in Cornwall, and Boscastle is one of the locations that I was looking for months, and when all the things come toghether like planning the picture weeks before, tide, clouds, wind etc, the final result let you in the same awe when you were in the spot days before.

This area at this popular seascape location in Cornwall is a little precarious. Only available on quite low tides, a series of underwater holes create chaos in the foreground. As usual, the occasional rogue wave fills you with adrenalin, but a careful eye prevents disaster!
Using an ND filter to create a longer exposure, helps to create a more ghost-like mood during this period of awesome light.
I have added the lighthouse light, as this lighthouse no longer shines light towards land.
