Ptolemy’s Cluster in Scorpio ( Messier 7, NGC 6475 ).

Visible to the naked eye as a small bright patch in the sky, this open cluster is around 980 light years away with around 80 stars within a area of 25 light years or so.

Skywatcher Quattro 10″ f4 Newtonian.
Skywatcher AZ Eq6 GT Mount
Orion auto guider – PHD2.

Field of view (deg) ~ 1.35 x 0.90.

Hiked to this spot to catch the midnight sun peaking inside the fjord of Ólafsfjörður, north Iceland.

The plan was to catch the sun as it appeared from behind the mountains, and everything went according to plan. Even managed to get this nice star effect.

Ólafsfjörður Summer Solstice by johannesgunnar

Shot this weekend during summer solstice, at Ólafsfjörður, north Iceland. This was pretty much as low as the sun went, being blocked by the mountains. Then it began to rise again. The mist that can be seen creeping in the fjord was actually all over in just a few minutes, and you could see about 5-6 meters in front of you in any direction. Luckily I managed to get a few frames before that…
