Travel Photographer Of The Year 2015 by MarselvanOosten

I am very excited to share with you that I won the overall title Travel Photographer Of The Year 2015.

The jury selected two of my portfolio’s – one landscape/travel portfolio, and one wildlife portfolio. This makes it even more special for me, because I’m always trying to do both genres equally well, which is why I call myself a nature photographer and not a landscape or a wildlife photographer.

I will start with the images from the winning landscape series. They were all shot last year in the swamps of Louisiana and Texas on a scouting trip for the world’s first Cypress Swamp photo tour – more info on that somewhere next week.

All shots were taken on a misty morning just after sunrise, either from a kayak or standing in the cold water. It’s one of the most magical places on this planet.

Tenerife south coast. it looks like Jökulsárlón beach in iceland with some ice missing! Shot with Lucroit filter holder and Hitech filters.
Taken during the last storm we had mid October 2015.

Costa sur de Tenerife.. parece la playa de Jökulsárlón in Islandia. Solo le faltan los miticos bloques de hielo! Sacado con porta Lucroit y filtros Hitech.

The Late Show by DanielSeeks

This shot is from a little over a year ago when Michael Bandy and I raced down to Corona Del Mar to catch a killer sunset. He was at The Bruery having a beer and I think I was at home being lazy. We were both texting back and forth and trying to look at reports to figure out whether or not sunset would be a bust. We decided f it and be there was the best option. Mike ended up beating me down there and catching most of the great light that was pouring through a break in the horizon. Luckily I got there just in time to catch the end of the show. I’ve definitely learned that whether or not you get the shot you want, you always have fun trying, so f it and be there.
