This is the first shot I took the other night. I was on my way out of town to shoot this kp 9 Aurora Borealis (biggest solar storms in at least the last decade) it was not quite fully dark yet but already I could see the aurora as I left Sioux Falls, SD. I figured hey my favorite tree maybe, just maybe with as big of an aurora as it was I would be lucky enough to be able to capture it in my usual lone tree composition from here.(facing west) By now anybody who knows my work is familiar with this tree that sits atop the ancient native american burial mounds of Eminija. The moon had not set yet and you can see the last remnants of dusk on the horizon to the right and the stars star and Aurora. It was about the middle of blue hour this time of year it doesn’t get totally dark til about 11:15pm.
