Its been foggy any rainy all week here around New York City. Not really great weather for the Christmas holidays.

Here is a view of the crappy weather from up on top of the rock in Rockefeller Center. It’s a three-image pano with some blur effects added in post.

A slightly desaturated version of a spring thunderstorm over Manhattan. Had a fantastic view of the approaching storm from up on the Manhattan Bridge. I remember being completely soaked about five minutes after my frames were captured.

This is five blended images from that evening. Three for lightning and clouds, one for the buildings, and one extra long-exposure for the water.

-Found some nice lightning hidden inside what I originally thought was a way too over-exposed image. Amazing how flexible camera RAW can be to save an image.

Skyline of Manhattan from Liberty Park
this panorama was made with 16 photos taken with a hasselblad H4D 40 with exposure of 16 sec, f / 16 ISO 100, 80mm HC lens. In post production I worked in LAB mode, applying sharpening only the luminance channel in the following section mixing channels. For converting to black and white used NIK SilverEfex Pro 2, creating two layers with masks edited. For blue toning used a ColorLookup layer in Blue Tone. The High Resolution Image has 16246x400px at 300 dpi.

Bridge to Gotham City by edwardreese

Was experimenting with post-processing techniques on a classic view of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline. Ended up with a dark and moody “dark Knight” look at the end. Hope it’s not too over-cooked.

This three-image panorama view was taken at sunset from the cove in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Used a 6-stop ND filter and exposure times were around 15 – 30 seconds. Reflection added in Photoshop.

Last year I was lucky enough to be in NYC working for 2 weeks during the Tribute Lights. Had an awesome time making new friends and roaming around the city. This may be one of my favorites. ‪
