Utakleiv by Arild_Heitmann

Utakleiv is a classic Lofoten location. One of those spots that ive shot so many times now, but i still find this particular place interesting. There is always something different going on.

On this day the waves were reaching higher than normal, and i found this perfect rock shelf leading to the iconic Skolmen Mountain in the background.

Free Falling by Arild_Heitmann

I love doing different and new stuff at locations that i have shot countless times.Skagsanden Beach in Lofoten is such a place. Its definately one of the most interesting spots on the Islands and its always a favourite when i bring clients here.

It is also a place that i have shot more than most photographers in the world. On this occation i wanted to do something new and exciting. And i think i came away with my definite favourite from this place. It was one hell of a shot to pull off under harsh conditions. Gale force winds and a mix of rain and hail. So worth it though!

Lofoten Waves by Arild_Heitmann

Shooting a storm in Lofoten when the sky opened up and glorious sunset glow let thru the stormy clouds. This was a scary session that my camera somehow survived. I kept my distance so that i wouldnt get pulled out to a certain death, but close enough to put my gear in a very dangerous position. How it survived getting hammered by waves is still beyond me.

The Lake by Arild_Heitmann

I shot this in early october in Lofoten, when we enjoyed aurora bonanza for 7 straight Nights. And in the daytime this is the scenery we shot. Not the worst week ive had as a photographer 🙂

On this occasion the colour started to grow quite slowly and at one point i wasnt even sure if something would materialize. But after the sunset the glow was so good for a brief moment. I shot this shoulder by shoulder with a client. He took a single frame while i did this pano of 4 vertical 14mm frames.

The Overlook by Arild_Heitmann

A pretty epic and unphotographed view over some of the finest mountains in Lofoten. Moody conditions that i mostly prefer over the glorious sunsets. The rainshowers in the distance added a fair amount of drama as well.

Under the Surface by Arild_Heitmann

Im gonna start showing some stuff that ive been holding back. This one is from a couple years back, deep into a remote mountainarea in Northern Norway, most famous for its incredible rock formations.

When this massive storm was moving in, i knew that often the light will be incredible just when the fronts meet.

I am enjoying my photography these days as im slowly evolving my style in a direction that im more and more comfortable with. It probably means doing poorly on this site, but thats not something to be taken too seriously. Lately ive seen far too many high-quality images being totally neglected here.

This one is shot at a remote plateu that was quite hard to reach. Next year me and Max Rive will lead a small group through these mountains again. The last trip was an adventure for life and something really special.

The Photographer by Arild_Heitmann

MIdnight on top of a high mountain in Northern Norway. After climbing for hours in steep terrain we finally were rewarded with a scene that justified all the hard work. Me and Max Rive will be doing this trip again next year. If youre interested in being part of a unique experience, Email Us
