Vanishing by stiann

Seen here is a glacier area in western Norway. Some 100 years ago, the very spot I’m standing on was under a thick layer of glacier. As recent as 20-25 years ago, I remember the glacier covered the entire area where you can see there’s now just bare rock.

Thanks for looking, any feedback appreciated.

First Fall Color by stiann

I went up in the mountains of western Norway yesterday to check on the progress of fall color. I’d say it’s at a…20% of a potential 100%. 🙂 Still nice though. This image is a small focus stacked panorama with lots of fine detail in it, maybe too much for web purposes. You really want to hit the M key to view the actual resolution and minimize muddiness. I did not increase the saturation of the reds as such, I had to reduce them after some contrast adjustments. I left them a little overwhelming as true to the actual colors. Annoyingly, when I arrived, there was a rainbow going right down into the V shape of the ravine in front, but by the time I got the gear out and found something resembling a comp, it was gone! Well, I guess people can do without another rainbow.

Blizzard by Chiotas

It’s is really difficult to describe the incredible feeling of that Icelandic morning. I was wandering in the silence, with the snow up to my knees in a insane stillness, when suddenly I felt a cold breeze on my face. So I looked at the sea, and on the horizon line I saw a violent snow storm that was quickly approaching. I knew that I had to run to my car, but it was impossible as I was simply hypnotized by this white beauty.
For me Iceland is like Ulysses mermaids ..with the difference that I don’t want to resist to them.

Red Comfort II by stiann

As I drove by this area the other night, the clouds turned nice and golden and I remembered I kind of sort of already had a comp I could…reuse. What can you do, I snapped a couple of frames and in my ongoing procrastination of more elaborate edits, a quick cosy-cabin-in-sunset image seemed just right. 🙂

Into the Wild by stiann

A view into a narrow fjord passage in western Norway. The salt water here is some 200 kilometers / 125 miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean. Captured only a minute before a heavy rain storm hit.
