Hydrant Hijinks by twwall

Back in the summer 1988 I worked as a TV news camera op in Philadelphia. The city was in the grip of a major heat wave, crack cocaine epidemic and budget cuts. As a result, Many of the cities pools had to be closed.

I had been covering a street shooting invooling local gangs when I came across these kids playing in a fire hydrant they had opened. I always carried my Pentax K-1000 with me in those days and fired off a few frames. I souped up the negs and made a print in my basement darkroom. It’s the only photo that I’ve taken that I hang on my wall.
