Through the Looking-Glass by RussellMcGuire
Little Birds are teaching
Tigresses to smile,
Innocent of guile:
Smile, I say, not smirkle –
Mouth a semicircle,
That’s the proper style!

For those who have never been, this place is called Scripps Pier and it is just north of San Diego in La Jolla. This sunset on the pier only happens two times a year and be ready for a madhouse when it does. I was one of maybe forty other photographers who decided to go out and shoot it. Luckily, I was somewhat in the middle and only had to elbow/knockout a few other photographers and an old lady to get the shot.
The Scripps Institution of Oceanography(sometimes referred to as SIO, Scripps Oceanography, or Scripps) in San Diego, California, founded in 1903, is one of the oldest and largest centers for ocean and Earth science research, public service, undergraduate and graduate training in the world. Hundreds of ocean and Earth scientists conduct research with the aid of oceanographic research vesselsand shorebased laboratories.

Please view on black, lots of detail and shadows in the pot holes and ground. Trying a new take on the logo as well.
I’m really happy with how this picture came out.I’ve been to La Jolla a few times, but never here to the pot holes at hospitals reef. Frankly because I couldn’t find them. I think I’d driven past them before but didn’t pay particular attention with a photography mindset.
The sunset was pretty cool, but not perfect due to some thick clouds, but it was nonetheless moody and special in it’s own way.
The potholes are the most magnificent part though as they should be, very cool spot and will definitely be going back and hoping for some colorful purple and pink skies!
Re edit, took out some of the dust in the sky and levels adjusted. Cheers!
