Lake Tekapo in Memory by AtomicZen

In my memory of the Lake Tekapo, New Zealand, “Russell Lupine” that flowered around Church of the Good Shepherd was very beautiful. The Lupine came in a variety of colors, such as orange, pink, blue, and purple. Because of its beauty, this location has become a popular place, drawing a lot of visitors around the world to look at. Unfortunate, to take photos, some travellers were reckless to unintentionally destroy the Lupine by sitting, standing, or even sleep over it. As a consequence, we have witnessed that the amount of the Lupine has been lessening progressively. Recently, I meant the beginning of this December; a couple of my friends revisited this location. They all agreed that the magnificent of the scenery gone. Lupine around the Church, expected to flowers and sets seed in the beginning of December, is much lessen than before. So sad if the situation would be deteriorating in next year. So, I reviewed my NZ photos taken last in 5 years ago and re-process them. I hope that when some travellers and photographers see this photo, they will aware of and take this issue in their consideration before unintentionally harming the Lupine around Lake Tekapo. Thanks for reading and warm supporting.

Lupine by SrihariYamanoor

After photographing Lupines for many years, I went looking for a different way of capturing them. Stopping by The Merced, I caught her flow as the bokeh on the background in this image. I removed all other colors for distraction free presentation.

Last spring, a friend of mine, Birdo Guisinger, of NRB Photography, stumbled across this incredible field of lupine right here in the Bay Area. Escaype was forecasting a great sunset for the inland Bay Area that night, and I casually asked if anyone knew of a good lupine field.

“Well, funny you asked…”

An hour and a quick car ride later, we were standing on the edge of this field of bush lupine. Everything smelled so fresh. Then the sky blew up. It was an experience I’ll never forget 🙂

Also, big shout-out to Majeed for offering some suggestions that truly saved this image from going to the dumpster due to flare.

This is four exposures for dynamic range, taken in immediate succession, and blended by hand.

I went up to Mt. Rainier a few weeks back just after the flowers had peaked in hopes of finding a few spots that hadn’t been completely fried by the heat wave that we have been dealing with as of late. I had high hopes when I found this area high up on the Skyline trail because high clouds were literally everywhere about an hour before sunset. Unfortunately that didn’t last long and I was stuck with nearly blue bird conditions for the sunset. One really neat thing about Paradise is the angle at which the sun sets behind the mountain. It’s almost as if someone shines a huge flashlight behind the mountain and provides back lighting for one entire side; gotta love mother nature!

Evening fog envelops fields of wildflowers and evergreens on the shoulder of Mount Rainier, Washington. I’ve been sitting on this image for almost a year, since August 2014. I’m finally getting around to processing some of these images I’ve had in my works in progress folder – still more to come!

This is a 3 photo perspective blend that was shot high up on the Skyline trail up at Paradise. The mountain you see in the middle is Mt. Adams which is being cradled by the Tatoosh mountain range. I’ve seen a few photos from this area but you really do have to do a perspective blend to give it more of a realistic feel since most wide angle lenses leave Adams fairly small. The FG was shot at 16mm, middle ground at 50mm and Adams at 105mm. It was pretty amazing to watch the moon rise just after sunset. It’s a moment that I definitely won’t forget. Hope you enjoy this one!
