Sunrise with Venus by patrickzephyr

I’ve crossed this brook many times in route to other locations on the shoreline here at one of my favorite areas of the Quabbin Reservoir. For a few months every year I can watch the sun rises at the end of this stream. On this particular morning venus broke the horizon first so together we waiting for sun. Thanks for stopping by. If your interested in exploring some of my favorite places in New England send me an email. I have been teaching individual workshops for 20 years and I’d be happy to share my knowledge and some of my favorite places to wander. To see more of my work please check out my website

Night Watcher by patrickzephyr

Sorry for the long delay in posting-Family Life, three daughters and shooting every chance I can have kept me away from editing but I have lots of new work that I’m really excited about and I hope to share some more soon. I know I have said this before but I have been exploring this stream for years and yet again I found a perspective I never thought to consider before. I was teaching a full-day workshop with a student and we decided to stop hear for a bit and experiment with long shutterspeeds before heading off to our sunset location and while my student was searching for compositions and setting up there tripod I turned around and spotted this composition. I took a few quick hand held shots with my wide angle lense for reference because I don’t lke to get lost behind my camera during a workshop. I went back a few times the following week at different times of day and captured a few images that I like. This is the first to make it to processing. I knew I wanted to do a night capture here, the challenges were 1) figuring out where I was going to be standing and how to get there in 10 seconds in the dark(my intervelometer died on me last week so I had to use the cameras 10 second delay) 2) focusing in the dark, and 3) staying dry and keeping my camera dry because the cascade is just off to my right and water is continuously splashing on me and the camera. Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate it!

Boston Nightlife by RossKykerPhoto

Wrapping up our honeymoon in New England and the final stop was here. Boston had such a beautiful skyline but holy crap it was cold! Couldn’t feel my fingers after shooting down there but I think it was worth it!

Blue Hour in Rockport by edwardreese

This is a long exposure image of the red fishing shack in Rockport, Massachusetts.

I think the sun was just at the horizon but cloud cover was very thick and thunderstorms were still brewing to the south of us. Seemed like the blue hour lasted all morning.

Very scenic location for a sunrise but it seems every time we go there, the weather covers it up.

Sunrise at Scituate by edwardreese

Yet another image from our road trip up to Massachusetts last weekend 🙂

This is a sunrise panorama of the Scituate Lighthouse located in Scituate, MA. The cloud cover was starting to break up after some really thick overlay during blue hour.

This is a four-image panorama using a 10-stop ND filter to help get the long exposure.
