Duel at Sundown by DaniloFaria

I will dedicate this image to my girlfriend and partner in adventures (http://ift.tt/1yzzOAc), as I was about to give up waiting for sunset because I wasn’t going to drive this 4×4 rough road back at night. She convinced us to stay, and for 15 or so minutes the light was even and beautiful!
When I first saw an image of this location 5+ years ago I said to myself: I need to personally see this place one day. Well, after many years of postponing and planning, I finally reached my goal. It was a few days past fall peak, but it did not disappoint at all. It is so surreal; I can only imagine when it was first built in 1892… Thank you all for your support!

Duel At High Noon by DaniloFaria

This image was not easy to get, due to the extreme dynamic range. It was still very bright, but many areas were under shade, so the polarizer and ND came out very handy. The location on itself is one of those hard to believe that is real. It was a few days past fall peak, but it did not disappoint at all. I couldn’t resist calling it High Noon, just back in 1892… Thank you all for your support!

The Blacksmith Shop at the Ranch by delorespoll

The Rockledge Ranch Historic Site, adjacent to the Garden of the Gods, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a living history museum in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The restored buildings depict life in the Pikes Peak region in four time periods and in four different households: American Indian life in 1775; an 1860s cabin; an 1880s farm; and a 1907 Edwardian Country Estate. This is my second shot at sunset taken from behind the Blacksmith Shop. It was one of the most beautiful skies I’ve ever seen. The buildings are opened several times a year with actors portraying the characters from the 1800’s.

Ghosts from the Past by randydpoll

The Independence Mine In Victor, Colorado is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Winfield Scott Stratton opened the mine in 1891. He later sold it for $11,000,000 after making it rich. Victor and Cripple Creek were among the biggest gold strikes of all time, dwarfing the ones in California.

Farewell to the Homestead by delorespoll

As we were going back to the car, I turned back for one final look, and snapped this shot! This was one of my favorite photo shoots I’ve ever done. Farewell to the Hornbeck Homestead, but not to the Old West! More of that to come!

Return to the Old West by delorespoll

Another in my series of historic old west structures at the Hornbeck Homestead. The main house is in the background. Two wagons are in the foreground. A storage shed is in the middle and another house is to the right. The sun was starting to set.
