Vegas Baby! (# 2) by RobertSchmalle

The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Vegas has a number of hotel rooms that have a terrace. A number of these rooms overlook the fountains at the Bellagio hotel. The view at sunset is breath taking – that is in a gaudy and over-the-top sort of way.

There is no place like Vegas!

Bonsai Rock by VictorCarreiro

I’ve been to Lake Tahoe many times but never had the opportunity to visit the so-called Bonsai Rock. I was greeted with some nice stormy weather (a statement only photographer would make). My wife sat behind me enjoying the beauty as I found a composition for this shot.

It’s snowing large flakes in this photo – not “dumping” by any means, but more than enough to cause streaking through all the shadows. I spent sometime repairing those areas. The haziness of the image, especially around the sun is from the snow falling.

Desert Chess by eyeofalens

Desert Chess

I nearly missed this opportunity, as I was half way up a dune behind where I’ve captured this from & then saw the sun making a small break through the clouds. So quickly running or scampering back down to here .As it all happen so fast this compostion with the playa could have been better, I should have been back a little further to get all of it in ( which I did afterwards ) but the best of the sun had gone, I have one or two more with a smaller sunstar, but think I prefer this one for now.
I was also torn between running back here or running up the dune, but think I wouldn’t have made it in time for the sun making it’s break.
