Warm Light in the West by jeffclow

I was standing at this spot in the Professor Valley of Utah alone one late afternoon day and the moment seemed frozen in time.

No evidence of man in front of me and just a deeply hidden memory in my brain of all the times I watched westerns as a kid and thought of places like this as “the old west”.

I kept listening for the sounds of a cavalry bugle to echo across the landscape…

Approach to the Wave by stevehowa

The Wave is always on everyone’s short list, but the area around the Wave is well worth the trip..

Serpent by Arild_Heitmann

On a windshaped plateu on a freezing mid-winter evening. I remember having problems operating my camera because of the cold wind and low temp. I was sweating like crazy after climbing the mountain on skiis and my hips were numb.
This is another random spot in the middle of nowhere 🙂

Sitting Pretty by michrojas

Here’s a shot taken from our trip to Utah a month ago. We wanted to test out the 2-person bivy we got from Miles Gear (Uber bivy) and we thought probably one of the best place to break it in is in the high desert! Woke up at 5AM in the 30 degree weather, feeling really cozy inside the bivy that I actually had to force myself to get up. The forecast was clear, which we didn’t mind because what’s best about this place is that there is so much abstracts to shoot that you are not at the mercy of dramatic skies. The vast, open space surrounding this butte is a real treat for anyone craving for solitude.

The Misty Mountains by Arild_Heitmann

This is from a fantastic misty morning on the hiking tour me & Max Rive did this summer. Rain had been falling all night and i was worried the whole day would be spent in a splashing rainfall with no visibility at all. Our campsite was down by the lake in the distance. I remember the joy when the sound of falling raindrops on my tent silenced and i looked out and could see the clouds start to break up.

Turned out to be another amazing day on this fabulous adventure.

Email me if youre interested in doing this with us next year.

Now back from a sailboat expedition into Scoresbysund fjord system of east Greenland. Amazing scenery in this remotest of corners of the earth.
Here sailboat Opel sailing in foehn wind in Öfjord.

I will be heading out there again same time next year in association with Iurie Belergurchi. Tour details will be announced soon: Iceland Photo Tours

Morning light breaks through low clouds to highlight these otherworldly sandstone formations – the quake-twisted remnants of an ancient seabed – located in what is now northern Arizona. Shot earlier this month during a week-long monsoon chasing trip with friends in the desert. Good times!
