Badwater Basin by SarahMarino

We ended up in the right place at the right time to see Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park flooded. What had been gnarly, rough, and brown salt polygons have been broken down by the rain and are reforming as more delicate white salt polygons. Here, a thin layer of water and the blue tones of twilight almost make the salt look like ice.

Now is a great time to visit Death Valley National Park, with cooler temperatures and the possibility of dynamic weather. If you have a trip planned to this area, our popular photography guide to Death Valley might interest you. Learn more through the link below…

Bonneville Salt Flats by dswindler

It was a stormy evening out at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Because the salt was so wet, I didn’t dare drive my truck on the flats, so I used my mountain bike to get out a good distance out. I really didn’t have much hope for sunset due to the heavy clouds on the horizon. However, a small break appeared and the sun poked through for just a couple minutes. Good thing I was ready! And yes, it was totally worth getting self and bike totally covered in wet salt.

Calpe at dusk. by FranciscoGarciaRios

View from the salt flats of El Saladar (Calpe, Alicante, Spain), on February, just at the time when the sun just hide, the “blue hour”, called this way by the predominantly blue glimmer of the remaining light, which also makes a beautiful contrast with the warmth of artificial lighting. It was a big pleasure sharing that photographic evening with Alfredo Blanquer (Konqueror) enjoying the beautiful photographic opportunities this place offered.
