IF you value shadow details and all that jazz, then do yourself a favor and see this in black. This is from a recent trip to the ONP where I was teaching a workshop. I was told about this spot last year, when Ted, Alex and I were shooting together for sunset.

This was the first time I’d been back to this place, where the conditions were good enough to shoot. Last month, the tide was very low and there was virtually no water action.

This time around it was pretty challenging to shoot and try to keep everything dry. I got completely soaked, camera included and I figured I should get out of this arch and dry everything before the camera would die.

This is a single exposure made with a Nikon D610 and Nikon 14-24mm. Processed in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.

Pollet Milky Way by stephenemerson

Captured on 9th April 2015 I was down on the rocks at Pollet Arch trying to capture some starry night shots but it was pitch black when I turned my head torch off and the tide was fast closing in. Anyone who has been down here will know exactly the danger involved. I only got a couple of exposures but I decided to retreat and move to higher ground much to my annoyance.

Although the sea may look smooth and calm it certainly was not its only the long exposure that gives that effect. The surf was crashing in and cascading over the rocks I was standing on moving my tripod so I only managed this one.
