This is a 2×6 Pano stitch, I posted the original version 3 months ago here; at the time I wasn’t 100% happy with the edit as there was visible vignette along the stiching border from the 14mm wide angle. Historically, Harpers Ferry is best known for John Brown’s raid on the Armory in 1859 and its role in the American Civil War. The charming little town is situated at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers where the U.S. states of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia meet. On my feet is the state of Maryland overlooking Harpers Ferry in West VA; across from Harpers Ferry on the top is the state of VA; Shenandoah river is on the top and Potomac river is on the bottom. Hope you enjoy !..

More often than not, their most active feeding time doesn’t equal to great lighting condition 🙂 I took this one when the Sun was just about to set; with a slow shutter, the wings were quite blurred, figured to try something new here and spice it up a little; my only hope is that this is not an epic fail.. 🙂 Hope you enjoy….

This is a juvenile blue jay, found him/her in my yard posing and begging me to take a shot so I snapped a few. Missed a tad of the tail but I am letting that one slide as I like the pose enough 🙂

This is a female ruby throated hummingbird in my yard, cloudy day creates great soft light on the subject, downside is that I had to lower the shutter and open the lens a little bit hence the shallow DoF.

漓江边上二(By the Li River II) by by_shan

He is the younger brother of the 83 years old fisherman I showed last week, I ran into the older brother along the Li River bank while I was taking a morning walk.. With him I actually booked an one on one session from 5am to 7 am. what I had to do? Got up 4am in the morning with my gear and rode a similar bamboo raft to meet him in this remote location which was totally an awesome experience in itself.
I know this is just another fisherman in the Li River here in the 500px.. I know the fishermen are no longer fishing for a living and only pose for tourists and togs…. But they are absolutely awesome and they connections with the iconic river and mountain have such historical significances, so here is my take as a tribute to them, hope you enjoy. The BEST (and only) paid session I ever spent I might add.
Process wise, it was shot at dawn, original image was quite dark and noisy, it also didn’t have much color to begin with, I actually de-saturated it even further hoping to recreate that mystic feel I experienced that morning.
