A Deep Breath by landESCAPEphotography

I recently took a trip to the Canadian Rockies. It wasn’t really a photography trip — we just wanted to hike, camp, explore, and experience these incredible mountains. We only woke up for a couple sunrises and only stayed out for a couple sunsets. It was a nice change of pace, and it allowed me to reconnect with the reasons I love landscape photography in the first place: because I love being outside. Tung and I hiked to many places in the high country that most people never see, including a few scrambles that required helmets, and many of my best memories have no award-winning photos to show for. But this was one of the better moments of light during the trip, so I did take a couple of handheld panoramas.

Hope you enjoy this one!

The Natural Bridge by miketlim

The Natural Bridge spans the Kicking Horse River and is located in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. This photo of the Kicking Horse River was taken from the Natural Bridge. It was sculpted and created by, rushing waters over where was once a waterfall. Over time, the erosion of the hard limestone opened up fissures in the rock.

Processed using Adobe Lightroom 6 and Photoshop CC 2015.

The Emerald Lake by miketlim

The Emerald Lake is located in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. It is the largest of Yoho’s 61 lakes and ponds.

Trying to get some landscape photography done during a family trip is typically a challenge as the average person doesn’t want to be bothered with moving around during sunrise or sunset.

I shot this photo late in the morning and had to use the hard shadows being cast in my composition.

Yoho by miketlim

Though not as famous as its counterparts in Alberta (Banff and Jasper National Parks), Yoho National Park in British Columbia provides amazing views that are definitely worth visiting. For those going to Banff from Vancouver, Yoho is actually on the way right before you cross the British Columbia / Alberta border.

Processed using Adobe Lightroom 6 and Photoshop CC 2015.
