Blood Moon 2015 – View From Switzerland by YuriFineart

HOW I TOOK THE PHOTO:

Taken with the canon 600d and a Tamron 70-300mm at 300mm (480mm Full Frame equivalent). I put the camera on a tripod, set the lens to 300mm and aimed at the Moon. I played around with a bunch of ISO and shutter speed combinations but ended up liking following settings: 2.0s F5.6 ISO 3200 the best. I also made sure I was in mirror lockup mode, had a 10s timer and i stood back a few feet every time i pressed the shutter. I would have gone wider than 5.6 but unfortunately that’s the widest this lens will go, in addition I’ve cropped the photo a bit after taking it. P.S you really have to set the focus manually and get it right by trial and error but luckily i managed to get a perfectly sharp shot of the supermoon!

Description:

Taken in the winter of 2014 on a bridge in Basel, Switzerland. I was just walking around with my camera trying to find some beautiful winter shots since the whole city was snow covered and beautiful. I went on my icy trip through the city and found some beautiful scenes but when i walked over the bridge I found my favourite shot of the day, the small ferry was just crossing over and happened to be in the perfect place of the frame. I am really happy with the way the picture turned out, the snowflakes, the transition from the sharp front to the hazy and faded background which add a lot of dynamic and depth to the picture…

Description:

Taken in the summer of 2014 at the Neist point Lighthouse on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Along with the Quiraing, this is one of my top 2 places on Skye. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and picture perfect, there are countless, stunning framing possibilities. Unfortunately had to leave this beautiful place before sunset but even without the best light, it still turned out to be a really good photo. I absolutely recommend visiting this location if you are on Skye, just bring enough time and a bug spray if you happen to go in the summer, the mosquitoes there will eat you alive! Taken with the Canon 600d and the Canon 18-55 IS II kit lens with following settings: 18mm, 1/100s, F8, ISO 100.

Description:

Taken last summer on the Quiraing, Isle of Skye, Scotland. The place really is magical and absolutely breathtaking, if I could only visit one spot on the Isle of Skye it would be the Quiraing. I’ve taken the photo just before the heaviest rainfall I’ve ever witnessed in my entire life, everything was soaked but luckily my camera survived. The mixture of perfectly soft and even light, the amazing storm clouds and of course the framing / location itself make this to one of my favourite pictures I’ve ever taken. The photo was taken with a canon 600d and 18-55 IS II kit lens.
