Contopus virens

For those of you who are wondering, this and the similar photos on my wall are of the same bird but from different days. This fellow’s favorite spot is on these twigs sitting where a stream flows into a small pool of water near my neighborhood. My son and I walk through a storm culvert under the road, which gives us an excellent blind to photograph him from about 12 feet away. There is a barn swallow nest on the inside wall of the culvert with three very young chicks in it, and occasionally mama swallow will chase this flycatcher off from her perch in a nearby tree.
