Replacing my 70-200mm with an 80-400mm lens has opened up a whole new world for me. I enjoy isolating intimate scenes with a longer reach, such as this beautiful fall color on old cypress trees reflected on the calm water of this small cove in the swamplands. This photograph is part of a series I’m wrapping up, having spent the better part of this year seeking out the beauty and charm of the not-so-often photographed southern United States. I’ll be back out in the mountains looking for big skies and drama in 2016, but for now this has been a very fulfilling project.
